Summary: Hwange's lions are rumored to be some of the biggest wild lions on the planet. One magnificent beast was destined to become one of Africa's most famous animals. He was known as Cecil. While his demise at the hand of hunters was splashed across the media, sparking fury in all who heard his tale, Cecil's story before he was posthumously iconized is worthy of celebrating

Cecil and his brother Leander wanted to take over territory ruled by Mpufo, who was Jerico's dad. Cecil and Leander went into a monumental battle with Mpufo, resulting in Mpufo killing Leander and seriously wounding Cecil. Mpufo was also seriously injured which resulted in his death. Years later, Cecil and Jericho met with both lions battling to hold their own territories. Eventually, these large lions, previously “arch rivals”, joined forces to form a formidable coalition.
