I was furious for an entire day after watching this. I'm over it. Hamaguchi wants to make a children's PSA about how uncool city folk are and how pure (except for the killing part) "local" people are, so be it. More power to him

I don't begrudge Sion Sono for making films I hate because his good ones are monsters. Same for Hamaguchi I've decided. He's hit five homers, a triple, and a sacrifice fly out of the seven other films I seen from him

What the Actual Fuck. This is a bad children's movie that feels twice as long as <i>Happy Hour</i> and then it goes dark for a few minutes. Wow, so cool

This isn't bad Hamaguchi. It's a bad film. Just because the guy has made 7 or 8 fantastic films doesn't mean he's doing something worthwhile here, something we, in his honor, are not capable of grasping

I like the car scene with the two ignorant city folk. That's some Hamaguchi

This film is boring and stupid. I don't care if it's ambiguously on the right side of some issue


Summary: Takumi and his daughter Hana live in Mizubiki Village, close to Tokyo. One day, the village inhabitants become aware of a plan to build a camping site near Takumi's house offering city residents a comfortable "escape" to nature.
