Comments: A big assist from Tang Wei (and Park Hae-il*), and good stuff all around. I hope this is where Park settles: being a director more than an auteur/provocateur/button pusher

The film gets a little complicated in the third act, but that's the Korean way. Getting there is a tingly mix of suspense and seduction, and Park loads it up with creative visual details. It's a beautiful film to watch

A Chinese lead actress and the (seen it before) "cop falls for a suspect" theme notwithstanding, this seems like the most For Koreans thing Park has done since Thirst -- which is about where I fell off the Park Train. I feel he's been tweening since then until now

Park clearly knows his stuff and this is a masterwork. Not brilliant, but brilliantly done

*Park Hae-il seems so much better suited to this introspectively outward role than the introspectively inward stuff he does with Zhang Lu. His interactions with his weekend wife in this film are comedy gold
