The first ritual with the pigs is both silly and gripping. Gripping because you look at it and realize “That’s Kim Go-eun acting all weird and crazy. Cool!” Her second ritual with the gong thing was just silly. The woman is an absolute treasure tho. Why she chose to chew gum (or nuts or something) in the scene where she meets Sang Duk I don't know, but it's outstanding eating-acting crutch work The "fox cut off the tiger's waist" angle surely means more to Koreans than me. It's less of a distraction compared to Thanos flying around as a fireball. But that's what they went with so give it up for that. Foxes are big in the movie. It's a bit of work to keep up with all the lore and the Japanese occupation metaphor, but they aimed high with both I wish the film was better looking and less brown. Blurry faces in reflection and fast paced montages aren't scary.
